The starting salary for this role is GBP27,991 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service are leading the way on the provision of apprenticeships, both for new members of staff and for those wishing to progress their career. The programmes are delivered in house by Fire Service Instructors as well as in partnership with other SCC departments and private companies and we anticipate expanding our qualification offer further.

This role will involve working within the Learning and Development Department at the Fire Service Headquarters site and contributing to the support of apprentice Firefighters and other members of staff who are completing an apprenticeship programme. You will also be responsible for entering data onto the apprenticeship tracking software and monitoring progress, giving advice and organising specialist support and timely assessments.

Your primary role will include apprenticeship administration/registration and supporting the apprentices by carrying out quarterly reviews and safeguarding. You will manage appointments for the apprenticeship support team. As well as this, you will keep records and run reports on the apprenticeship on-line portfolio, which is managed on Onefile.

As an Apprenticeship Support Officer, you will also assisst the Qualifications Manager with the administration to deliver non-apprenticeship qualifications to Surrey Fire and Rescue staff.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • Understanding and experience of working with apprenticeship programmes
  • Experience of working within a busy administration/support department, for example in an HR or L&D environment
  • An ability to communicate effectively both verbally (in person and by telephone) and in writing
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to use a range of IT programmes to monitor, record and report on data.
