Delivering support with a difference. That's when it hits home.

We are looking for a team of Support Workers to join us at our supported living service, Nicholas House in St Albans. We support our wonderful customers who are all young men (aged under 25) with various levels of learning disabilities to live independently in their own flat within our beautiful house. You'll be supporting one of our customers with all aspects of his day to day living, including personal care, working in a person-centred way so that he can enjoy the best quality of life and live as independently as possible.

Our customers have varying levels of learning disabilities with a huge amount of potential to develop their skills to be as enabled and independent as possible. They are looking for a team who will share their interests as well as encourage and support them to participate in lots of new activities too! If you are kind, caring and passionate, then we would love you to join us.

Their home is on a lovely quiet road with lots of shops, great bus routes and a train station nearby, perfect for the commute or a day out. Our building has been completely renovated with seven self-contained flats bespoke to each customer with a big garden (which has lots of space to grow plants or veg if they fancy that!).

About you

You'll be engaging, lively with a kind and caring nature. We are looking for people who are passionate and motivated to help our customer with all aspects of his day to day living, including personal care and to help him reach his full potential.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to expand their current knowledge and develop their skills. You'll have previous experience, whether in a similar role or caring for a family member, child or neighbour for example. What's important is that you have a passion for supporting our customer and truly wants to make a difference to his life. We will provide you with lots of support and opportunities for professional development and career progression if you want that!.

A Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is preferred, but again not essential as we'll fund and support you to gain the qualification if you don't already have it. A current full driving license would be great to drive our customer in their own mobility car around the community, but it's not a deal breaker!

We also require that you have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service which we will pay for.

Working hours

Our customer needs support 24/7 to meet his needs, so you'll take your turn working on a rota. We offer lots of different hours and shift patterns depending on what you are looking for, which includes working days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, waking nights and sleep ins. As we're asking you to be flexible, we'll also give you the time back that you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

What's on offer?

We'll nurture your talent; help you understand how things work here and you'll have a fantastic induction with ongoing learning and support!

25 days annual leave (on top of bank holidays), rising a day a year up to 30 days. Fancy a little bit more? Then why not buy up to five days extra leave?
