About the role
Alzheimer s Society Dementia Support Service provides support to people diagnosed with dementia and their carers. You will offer support to service users in a variety of ways, such as face to face within the community, virtually on Teams or Zoom or by phone, letter and email. The service is unique to each service user, as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs.
We are looking for a Dementia Support Worker to provide a service across Hertfordshire. You will be part of our wider Essex and Hertfordshire Area Team.
You will:
Have a rewarding opportunity to provide advice and guidance which will; help people understand dementia, cope with day-to-day living and prepare for the future.
Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action.
Ensure that service user s personal data is confidential, treated with respect and that your working practice is compliant.
Liaise and network with statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure that our service users are represented, and their voices and needs are heard.
We work in partnership with the Hertfordshire memory service and network with a range of health and social care professionals. You will have the opportunity to be involved with: Dementia Action Week, promoting the Alzheimer s Society s campaigns, raising awareness in the community and fundraising.
About you
We are looking a highly motivated individual who possesses an understanding of dementia, and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. Your ability to assess service users needs along with awareness of the need for confidentiality, is essential to provide a valuable and worthwhile service.
You will:

Be empathetic and non-judgemental in your approach.
Have excellent organisational skills.
Have good communication skills.
Have good IT skills with an ability to use a range of applications.
Have a commitment to your personal development.
Have some experience of working with voluntary agencies and feel confident in networking (desirable)
Possess knowledge and experience of Adult and Children Safeguarding, Information Governance policies and procedures and statutory laws such as the Mental Capacity Act (desirable)
The ability to travel independently across the area is essential.
NVQ level 3 or equivalent (desirable)
