We have an exciting temporary opportunity to work at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in central Southampton within the UK Seafarer Services (UKSS).
UK Seafarer Services (UKSS) Branch helps to meet the Government's maritime strategy for 'Safer Ships and Cleaner Seas' by ensuring high standards of marine safety and marine environmental protection through delivery of policy, legislation and associated guidance within the areas of Seafarer Safety and Health, and Seafarer Training and Certification.
Role Purpose:
Manage examination team emails, post, branch travel arrangements and other ad-hoc duties when requested
Key Responsibilities:
Support the team with planning and organizing policy activities across UKSS
Support the Policy Manager coordinating and organizing stakeholder engagement activities for UKSS
Organize and prioritize the Exam team's emails and post, responding to routine queries and verification requests, referring technical or complex queries to the appropriate staff and maintaining the tracking database
Record and update Marine Office Oral examination results monthly.
Record type rating, watch rating certificates and yacht rating certificates issued onto Seafarer Documentation System (SDS) record and file accordingly
Maintain access to the on-line verification checker; verifying companies and creating accounts and maintain record of on-line verification accounts
Organize and book travel for UK Seafarer Services staff and maintain travel spreadsheet and forecasting
Provide support for other administrative activities as required, including processing certificates, commensurate with the gradePay rate:GBP11.19/hour, Monday to Friday - 37.50 hours/week, 3 months assignment, extension possibility.
