A highly successful firm of Accountants is recruiting for a Tax Manager (Compliance) to join the tax team in Newbury. This role is available due to internal progression and will support Directors and Senior Tax Managers in providing high quality tax compliance services to clients.
The firm will offer hybrid working at 60:40 office/home if desired although this would be after the probationary period once settled in.
This firm is a part of a well renowned Top 20 group of firms that has experienced a period of continued growth and tax compliance services are at the core of the business platform, with the client base including HNWIs, business owners, trusts and non-doms.
As Tax Manager (Compliance), reporting to Senior Tax managers your responsibilities will include:
Self-manage a portfolio of clients including HNWIs, Partnerships and Trusts
Consider and advise on income and capital gains tax planning opportunities for clients
Maintain client & HMRC relations through email and telephone contact, participate in new & existing client meetings
Assist other members of staff and directors with their tax queries and act as go-to for department staff for daily needs and queries
Provide training and development for more junior compliance staff and participate in staff appraisals and continual professional development
Review work of other members of staff, when required
Supporting dealing with HMRC enquiries
Prepare and submit tax relief claims such as EIS CGT deferral, business asset holdover relief & entrepreneurs relief and advising clients
Prepare IHT forms for client approval and calculate IHT liabilities
Complete tenancy / mortgage reference requests
Consider budgets and draft bills for Director s approval
Manage P11D process for the firm s clients - prepare and file P11D(b)s and related in-year forms with team support
Manage PAYE Settlement Agreements
Ensure immediate report compliance with the firm s anti-money laundering procedures
The ideal candidate will be as described below:
CTA qualified or ATT with 10+ years experience
Previous managerial or supervisory experience
Acute attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Proactive and organised, with strong time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
Ability to demonstrate technical processes to suit a wide-ranging audience including management, peers, trainees, and clients
Confidence to build rapport manage a professional relationship with clients
Great IT skills including MS Office (Excel, Word etc) and accounting software knowledge - Digita would be an advantage and training can be given
The role offers a market rate salary commensurate with the role and level of candidate qualification and experience, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and hybrid working after qualifying period. The office has free on-site parking.
