Housing & Support Officer

Have you got the passion and resilience to support and empower Young People aged 16 - 21 to develop their independence and daily living skills?

You will work as part of a team providing 24 hour support to Young People in a large shared house. You will act as a keyworker to named clients and support clients to achieve their goals and live as independently as possible whilst ensuring they are safe and able to manage risks appropriately. You will also carry out housing management activities such as rent collection, tenancy enforcement, reporting maintenance issues, and undertaking health and safety checks, ensuring a trauma informed approach is taken to support clients to maintain their tenancies. About You:

You must have the passion and understanding for supporting Young People (16 - 21) who may have faced trauma, and the resilience for lone working in a 24 hour project. Previous experience of providing support to different client groups is desirable. Useful experience would include supporting young people, homeless people / families, people with mental health issues, people with learning disabilities or people with substance misuse issues. Knowledge and understanding of the benefits system and experience of supported housing would also be an advantage.

You will need to be able to assess risk, and to empower clients to take informed and appropriate risks while reducing any which could limit their independence. An understanding of safeguarding issues and a commitment to protect all adults and children using or visiting Transform s services is essential.

You must be a professional and confident communicator able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, or in writing with a wide range of people; having the ability also to keep the financial records required for monitoring the collection of weekly charges, arrears, petty cash etc.

You will have an understanding of, and commitment to, client consultation thus supporting clients to shape and influence the services provided to them, including the development and review of their individual support plans.

Administrative skills and the ability to produce accurate and relevant work is essential, which in turn will require you to have a good level of IT skills, especially (MS Office) Word and Outlook.

It is essential that you have a full valid driving licence that will allow for occasional use of manual pool vehicles and use of your own car for business purposes.

Enhanced DBS clearance will also be required.

This role is open to trainees, so no previous experience is required, all you need to have is the desire and aptitude for helping people change their lives. (Trainee starting salary GBP20,250 pa.)

Salary: GBP21,500 - GBP24,250 pa (dependent on experience) + benefits
