The Role
Design is a fundamental part of our client's foundations. The company was founded based on heavily researched customer needs, and everything they do is driven by experience principles.
The Product Designer role will join the existing design team, which is the driving force behind implementing the global reference experience for farming. The role will be to help deliver the best possible experience for the users of the service which consists of the website, applications and human-robotic interaction.
The role will be to carry out the end to end design process, from taking part in research through to creating high fidelity prototypes and gathering feedback through user testing.
They will be responsible for designing, testing and implementing an evolving service using single screen complex interfaces, a multi-platform end to end customer engagement experience, and an integrated human-robotic interaction experience.
The Product Designer will work with multiple team members, from marketing to innovation to ensure they are building the right features as well as building those features correctly to provide the highest user value and experience. It will be expected that the product designer will work effectively, at pace, independently and as part of a team.
The role is based at a bespoke new facility in Porton - which is just outside of Salisbury and easily commutable from Southampton, Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and the Thames Valley tech corridor.
Responsibilities (although not limited to):-
As Product Designer, you'll need to;
Have a clear and evolving vision of end-to-end customer engagement, service and HRI experiences.
Meet clients and stakeholders to gather information about their requirements and understand what features are needed to build to provide the best experience and user value.
Put users at the centre of designs, making it simple to use and aesthetically pleasing, in line with the brand.
Take part in research methods to learn more about users.
Sketching and wireframing to explore many ideas rapidly.
Produce high fidelity prototypes to gather insight into usability and user value through user testing.
Create easy to understand, clear documentation for developers to use as well as to be seen by stakeholders and investors.
Understand the implications that design has on finances, for both generating an increase in ROI as well as reducing the overall costs of development.
Have good presentation skills to clearly communicate your designs and the decisions made based on evidence collected
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including developers, robotics engineers and data scientists.
Have technical knowledge to be able to explain what needs doing to developers.
Ensure websites comply with the law and equal opportunities policies, and HRI experiences conform to local and national implementation legislation.
Skills:
We always support colleagues in developing their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these fabulous things
At least 4 years of experience in UX/UI design.
Knowledge of building and maintaining UI kits, with experience with design systems a plus.
Strong experience in all aspects of digital design, with experience in industrial design as a bonus.
Experience with different research methods, such as user testing, A/B testing, user interviews and surveys, and the analysis that comes with those activities.
Proven ability using techniques and products for rapid conceptualisation, experience design and prototyping.
Confident use of tools for concept sketching and testing, UI implementation and high fidelity prototypes (eg Sketch, Figma, Zeplin, UserTesting . com)
Experience in using other tools such as Jira, ClickUp, and SurveyMonkey is a bonus.
Experience running design workshops to foster design thinking around the company, whilst gathering ideas and feedback.
A Bachelor's or Masters in user experience, design, psychology, or related discipline is desirable.
