Job Title: Chaplain - (Flexible hours needed to include Out of Hours Support for emergencies)

About the Trust

The Royal Oldham hospital is located close to the town centre and is easily accessible via both car and public transport. There is on-site parking (fees will apply). It has an onsite cafe and restaurant where staff are eligible for a discount. The hospital also has on site shops.

What you ll be responsible for:

It is occupational requirement under schedule 9 of the Equality Act (2010) that the chaplain for this position must be a Muslim able to deliver rites and prayers from an Islamic perspective. (Mandatory)

Following a spiritual needs assessment, the chaplain will analyse a patient s requirements and respond appropriately and sensitively in accordance with the Trust s expectations and national chaplaincy standards.

Plan, facilitate and lead rites of passage, administer sacraments; prayers, gatherings and acts of worship in accordance with the requirements the service users faith/belief, culture, and tradition.

During a Major Incident the Chaplain will be available/ prepared to respond in line with the Trust s Major Incident Plan.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

You ll learn the following whilst working at the Trust Obtain from Hiring Manager/the Trust -

An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS

Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times

A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You ll have the following qualification/experience:

To provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious care to Muslim patients, their carers and staff members.

The Chaplain will provide specific insights and spiritual/ religious care to those who identity as from a Muslim tradition and culture.

They will be able to deliver prayers and rituals, particularly at End of Life

Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
