Job Title: DATA MANAGER

Responsible to: SLT member as directed by Exec Head

Responsible for: Supporting the strategic direction of the school in its use of data and the development and maintenance of the School's Management Information System (currently SIMS) and other data handling tools/software (e.g. Assessment data packages and behaviour data packages).

Data Assistant

Grade:

Maternity Cover, Full-time (35 hours per week)

Main Responsibilities:

Systems

* To lead on importing results and database information from other systems, to provide a comprehensive set of base data for all students on the data systems used within the school.

* To compile lists and maintain statistical data in respect of a class, year group, and subject undertaking analysis of statistics required by staff.

* To undertake regular updates of timetable information stored on the MIS including class lists and rooming allocation.

* To produce reports and analyse data, including examination performance as requested by the Senior Leadership Team.

* To show leadership in providing analysis of results and progress as requested by senior staff and subject leaders.

* To provide target setting information and performance reports for the Senior Leadership Team, Governors and external agents such as Ofsted or the School Improvement Partner.

* To provide data on an ad-hoc basis for staff as required.

* To work with the Senior Leadership Team in setting clear and workable deadlines for data collection and reports.

* To organise and liaise with the data assistant with regard to the School Census Report, SIMS student and staff database and reports.

Training/Trouble Shooting

* To train, advise and support staff in the use of management information systems and other data systems used in school and to evaluate and research new opportunities for effective use of data management

* To log and report any problems experienced by staff using the software and provide solutions for the Senior Leadership Team.

Support

* Working with the ICT Network Manager and being the primary contact with Capita including Capita support

* Being responsible for upgrades, updates, planning and working with IT support in maintaining users and user accounts.

* Troubleshooting issues to do with the school MIS and other data systems and the use of them.

Development

* Anticipating future needs, (in the context of the School's Development Plans), working closely to do so with the Exams Officer and ICT Systems Network Manager.

Maintenance

* Ensuring that the data structures are adequate to the task, including the integrity, consistency and coherence of aspects and the data themselves

* Keeping the data as up to date as possible; working with the Exams Officer and ICT Network Manager/SIMS support to maximise the user experience of SIMS and other data systems.

Review

* Monitoring the effectiveness of the Federation's data systems (their implementation and usage) and feeding back findings to inform planning.

General
