Role Overview

Platform Service Engineer - Milton Keynes

Our client, a nationally recognised brand, is looking for a Platform service engineer to join their permanent team.

This role is part of our clients Platform Services Team, responsible for the on-going development and management of IT infrastructure. Supporting all sites, including the online eCommerce platform. The role holder will use their technical knowledge and management skills to help design and implement new solutions - ensuring continuous improvement to both the on-premise Infrastructure and new cloud Infrastructure.

Our client is looking for someone who is passionate about technology and will focus on improving platform stability and increasing the pace of change within the team.

Main Areas of responsibility

  • Continually develop and maintain an expert understanding of systems & services and their interaction with the business
  • Build and Support both the on-premise and cloud infrastructure, including the eCommerce applications and supporting systems
  • Research and evaluate new technologies to increase the performance and security of the IT Infrastructure
  • Work closely with the security team to deliver and maintain secure solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with occur within the & Store Infrastructure as required
  • Monitor, support and maintain the Store infrastructure in accordance with the Incident, Major Incident and Problem Management processes with a focus on driving down repeat tickets.
  • Deliver new project requirements for the Store IT Infrastructure
  • Comply with all legal and Company policies and procedures regarding health and safety to ensure you work in a manner that keeps you and your colleagues safe.
  • Comply with all applicable UK and Ireland Data Protection and ePrivacy legislation and report non-compliances where identified to the Data Protection team
  • Responsible for actively participating in performance development process to ensure knowledge and skills remain current and relevant for role.

Accountability

  • Mentor colleagues within the Platform Support Team.
  • Responsible for the uptime and performance of the IT Infrastructure.
  • Responsible for the delivery of IT Infrastructure Projects.
  • Manage third parties to ensure the IT infrastructure remains security complaint, patched and backed up in accordance with our policies and SLA's
  • Responsible for the delivery of the IT Infrastructure strategy
  • Manage the building, monitoring and support of both the on-premise and cloud infrastructure, including the eCommerce applications and supporting systems.
  • Ensure our environments are secure and where required adhere to PCI-DSS standards

Skills and experience

  • Be familiar in managing a DevOps culture within the team
  • Strong understanding of ITIL
  • Experience of cloud technologies
  • Relevant Industry recognized certification or demonstrable industry experience

  • Windows Server 2012+
  • Microsoft SCCM/Intune/Autopilot
  • Cisco Meraki/Cisco Firewalls
  • Office 365
  • Azure/Azure DevOps/AWS
  • eCommerce technologies - CDNs, Load Balancers and WAFs
  • Splunk
  • Infrastructure-as-code and experience with CI/CD Pipelines
