Procurement (& Sustainability) Manager
Role: Procurement Manager
Hours: Permanent, Full time, 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Haverhill, (first weeks' training. Will take place in Park Royal, London)
Salary: GBP45,000 - GBP53,000 per annum

The Role
Procurement Manager will be playing a crucial role by owning the meat supply chain and ensuring specifications are at the required and ordered levels.
This means leading the following:
Establish and maintain solid working relationships with key suppliers to secure supply on time and in full, and within required cost targets.
Find new suppliers (UK + Europe) to meet future volume and pricing needs.
When necessary, solicit Requests for Proposals (RFPs) from suppliers and secure forward volumes and favourable forward pricing.
Forecast price trends and get in front of any possible supply shortages to mitigate these before they interrupt production or impact inventory levels.
Perform cost analysis to identify and report on price or volume variances.
Continuously be evaluating costs and operations in raw material sourcing, buying and storage, to find cost savings and efficiency opportunities.
Put in place risk management policies and procedures, and ensure adherence to these, to ensure the safe receipt, storage and use of ingredients.
Coordinate delivery schedules to ensure timely receipt of ingredients for production.
Working with the R&D team, quickly source new meats/cuts to required specifications (e.g. % fat, protein + moisture) for R&D to make samples.
Interest in sustainability and animal welfare and being able to identify opportunities for the company to use upcycled human-grade ingredients, that would otherwise not be used in the human food supply chain.

Person Specification:
5 Years Meat buying experience
Experience in evaluating meat and industry suppliers
Financial and numerical skills
High-level of attention to detail
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional talent in negotiating and networking
Solid knowledge of supplier or third-party management software
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to foster strong positive supplier and vendor relationships
Great Financial Skills, budgeting and managing costs and finances.
Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to spot new business opportunities and vendors
A proven track record of: responsibility for identifying potential supplier sources, conducting interviews with potential vendors, negotiating favourable supplier agreements and managing supplier and vendor contracts.
