The Vacancy
Our client have a fantastic opportunity to join them in the role of Short Stay Accommodation Support Worker.
A full time role of 37hrs Monday to Friday (alternate weeks 0900-1700 and 1000-1800)
The primary purpose of this role is the management of temporary accommodation and accommodation used for; people being discharged from hospital, homeless, vulnerable, individuals and families who are in need of short stay accommodation.
Key Responsibilities include:

To liaise closely with the housing needs team to admit homeless people into the short stay accommodation, matching applicants’ needs sensitively to the accommodation available. Completing associated paperwork, inputting data and preparing individual support plans in line with the residents’ needs. Working within data protection guidelines at all times.

Ensure residents receive all relevant information relating to the accommodation, including payments of rent and charges, understanding of the conditions of the licence agreement particularly in regard to the fire regulations and other information relating to the wellbeing of all residents.

To encourage residents to maintain their short stay accommodation licence and support in developing their life skills including advice on basic safety and hygiene matters.

To be flexible in providing cover for other colleagues within the directorate as and when required.

To always maintain the best use of the short stay accommodation, ensuring minimum disruption to existing residents where internal moves are essential, checking rooms are prepared and cleaned to a satisfactory standard, keeping voids to a minimum.

To ensure effective communication is always maintained with all colleagues and night support staff by consistent use of the short stay accommodation logbooks, client records and CKH tenancy management systems.

To monitor status of Housing Benefit applications and manage rent arrears including making and monitoring agreements. Liaison with the homeless section at Housing Benefits.

To proactively work to maintain a safe and secure environment and to manage anti-social behaviour issues within the short stay accommodation and to raise safeguarding concerns.

Ensure client support and client records are kept in line with the Housing Related Support grant requirements.
Essential Criteria:

Knowledge of welfare benefits and statutory and voluntary services available for vulnerable adults.

Experience of working with vulnerable groups.

Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.

An ability to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis with vulnerable clients.

Ability to empathise and display sensitivity to client’s personal circumstances.

Ability to work alone and as part of a small team
-
Ability to use IT to maintain records and extract information.

Ability to build effective working relationships with colleague, residents and partner organisations.
Additional Requirements:

Must be able to provide a suitably insured vehicle for use in connection with the duties, including carrying clients when necessary.

The ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
