Brook Street (UK) Limited is currently recruiting a Production Manager on behalf of our Belfast client.

Responsibilities will require the candidate hired to ensure that our clients welded refillable cylinders are re-qualified, refurbished and painted according to the relevant legislative requirements in a safe and cost-efficient manner as per company procedures.

Duties for the role:
Plan, forecast and continuously monitor operational expenditure.
Drive efficiency improvement and cost reduction throughout the process.
Drive recruitment and staff selection, and guide recruitment strategy in cooperation with HR.
Deal with staff grievances, investigate and resolve any incidents in accordance with company procedures.
Ensure a productive, co-operative work atmosphere is maintained.
Manage, support and coach staff by completing performance reviews and annual appraisals.
Develop and maintain training plans for all staff, and schedule on-the-job and third party training.
Ensure on-the-job training sessions are delivered for each workstation in the production process and competency assessments on all inspectors are completed as outlined in the quality procedures.
Provide leadership for the successful operation of the production process.
Maintain high output and quality by tracking performance and setting individual and team goals.
Continuously monitor and improve production process, plant and equipment performance.
Co-ordinate the receipt and dispatch of cylinders to and from the filling plants.
Liaise with the filling plants to ensure cylinder requirements are adequately discussed and agreed.
Chair monthly production meetings, provide clear direction to staff and explain updates to procedures and policies.
Provide clear feedback to cylinder filling plant managers on any cylinder quality issues reported, discuss, agree and insure new control measures are implemented to improve quality of the production process.
Decide, review and control stock levels to ensure adequate material availability to support efficient production.
Raise purchase orders, manage receipt of goods and approve invoices for payment.
Participate in procurement meetings with suppliers and contractors as part of the tendering process.
Carry out technical evaluation of tender bids and make recommendations to Procurement.
Manage the selection and control of contractors and suppliers.

Criteria:
5 years experience of managing staff in a production related environment.
Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
Strong knowledge of health and safety and the ability to enforce safety rules and policies.
Knowledgeable of product quality, productivity, inventory processes.
Demonstrate sustained high performance and effective delivery of results
Have sound knowledge and experience in using IT systems
Strong leadership skills

Salary will depend on experience and background - circa 33k per annum
