Job Purpose:

Are you a Security Analyst who is looking for an opportunity that has future scope to develop into a Lead role?

* As the Security Analyst you will research and evaluate emerging cybersecurity threats, developing contingency plans and mitigations.

* Carry out regular testing of the ICT environment to identify potential vulnerabilities, coordinating the response and ensuring that risks are mitigated in good time.

* Manage the operational relationships with, and performance of, the third-party providers that support the security operations, ensuring appropriate quality-of service and knowledge transfer is always in place.

* As the Security Analyst you will fulfil the role of security lead on large-scale operational activities and projects as required.

* Develop, document, review and maintain a suite of flexible security principles standards, processes and procedures.

* As the Security Analyst you will keep abreast of relevant industry standards and technological developments in the sector, evaluating and testing new security systems and products as appropriate.



* Relevant degree/qualification within Cyber Security/IT Security/Information Security is essential

* Previous experience working as Security Analyst (infrastructure) Cyber Security/IT Security/Information Security or a similar role is essential

* Strong experience of either network, server or data and information administration in a medium-sized corporate network

* Practical experience of the application of IT security controls to a corporate network

* Experience of developing and promoting documentation, support systems, processes and procedures

* Practical knowledge of security monitoring tools including the implementation of a Security Operations Centre (SOC) and/or Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)

* Analytical and pragmatic approach to problem solving

* Strong communication skills with the ability to build solid relationships

* Strong understanding of information technology related legislation and frameworks

* Risk management and impact assessment skills

* Customer focussed with high individual standards


* A Postgraduate qualification or chartered status such as: Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) / Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)

* Previous experience of working in medium or large public sector or Higher Education environments

* Experience of training end users whose skills and knowledge may vary from novice to expert

* Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification

* ISO27001 certification

* Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards

* Familiarity with change and release management processes
