Energy and Fuel Poverty Advisor

Salary: £25,000 - £27,200 depending on experience

Hours: 37 per week

Contract: 2 years fixed term

Based: Barnstaple, North Devon

The Role

We are looking to recruit an Energy & Fuel Poverty Advisor to join our Income Team providing telephone and outreach services giving energy advice to our customers.

The role will also play an important part in supporting customers experiencing fuel poverty and hardship to maximise household income, reduce outgoings and build financial wellbeing and independence.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • To engage with customers through referrals or data analysis, identifying those most likely to be in fuel poverty and those households where you can have the biggest impact.
  • To provide comprehensive energy advice to customers.
  • To work with customers to change energy related behaviours, challenge any misconceptions about tariffs and energy efficiency, persuade customers towards behaviours that get the best from their heating & hot water systems.
  • To make recommendations to the hardship fund and administer crisis payments including provision of household items that will conserve or reduce energy consumption.

About You

  • You will have experience of working within a customer focused environment and have excellent communication skills
  • You will have knowledge of heating and hot water systems and energy efficiency in domestic dwellings.
  • You will be experienced in providing budgeting and welfare benefits advice.
