We are a modern, professional and successful law firm, growing year on year and we are seeking a Legal Department Assistant/Secretary to join our team based in Dorking. . You will provide administrative support to the residential property department and support 2 fee earners. Previous experience working within a law firm would be ideal as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Legal Administrator role within a residential property department. We can also consider recent graduates seeking their first permanent legal role who have studied a relevant property module or gained relevant work experience during their studies. We are a firm of specialist solicitors covering the South East and London and we work with FTSE companies as well as smaller private companies. We employ over 100 people across our offices and our firm is accredited by Lexcel. For this opportunity we offer a salary range of GBP22k to GBP32k depending on your level of legal work experience and 25 days holiday, pension contribution, life insurance and cash plan plus free parking.

Responsibilities:

• To prepare correspondence and documents through audio typing and script

• Opening and closing files in accordance with the requirements of Lexcel

• To prepare post and enclosures for despatch.

• To arrange for all copying to be done, in person if the designated person is not available to undertake the task.

• Accurate, efficient diary management.

• Co-ordination/planning of appointments.

• To prepare meeting rooms as necessary and for the tidying and clearance of the room at the end of the meeting.

• To provide refreshments when asked to do so.

• To provide support to other secretaries as required.

• To provide guidance to less experienced and temporary secretaries when required to do so.

• To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm's standards for client care.

• To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.

• To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm's and client's documentation and information.

• Perform any other duties the Partners require.

To be successful for the Legal Department Assistant role you will need to have strong PC skills and an organised approach with proven administration or secretarial experience within a legal firm. Ideally you will have exposure to the property discipline within a Solicitors, commercial or residential. You should ideally be educated to A Level or degree standard within a Law discipline or be qualified by experience. You should ideally have digital dictation skills and relevant legal work or study related experience.
