Job Title: Software Developer Intern

As part of the Staffordshire Digital Innovation Partnerships project, Staffordshire University has entered a partnership with Risual, a Tier1 gold Microsoft Partner, providing IT and managed services across the public and private sector based in Staffordshire.

As part of the SDIP programme, we are recruiting an intern to take on a 24-week project. The project will support the development of a virtual work experience framework for young adults, creating a walkthrough of the business from an initial client enquiry, through sales processes, delivery and into invoicing bringing in, additionally, other areas such as HR, Quality and Software Development. This approach will give a unique perspective of all elements of a business providing work experience students with an opportunity to see how their skills and abilities align to different roles.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to get involved in a highly innovative project. Supported by University experts, you will research, analyse, plan, and implement a solution that can then be used as a proof of concept by the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Work with internal stakeholders to create a requirements document for the monitoring solution.

* Work with risual project lead and the university representative to create an overall project plan

* Design and develop a front end for the application, taking the user experience into account

* Convert existing resources into more engaging and interactive user content

* Working in conjunction with specialists in the area, design the data storage and back-end solution for the application.

* Produce guidelines for risual future material conversion

* Carry out comprehensive testing at all stages of the application development

* Ensure any legal and ethical issues are considered at all stages of the project

Skills and Experience:

* IT/Computing undergraduate/Graduate - computer science background is preferable.

* Software engineering skills are essential, preferably with experience of developing web-based applications using Microsoft Technologies including Azure, Office 365, and Teams.

* Effective communication skills, being able to work as part of a team and as an individual.

* Energy and enthusiasm, determination to succeed

* Good organisational skill and focused, problem-solving ability.

* Prepared to fully participate in the commitment of the company to achieving the goals of the project.

* Approachable with a positive attitude and willingness to seek help when required

Further Information

The position is offered on a full time, fixed term contract for six months (24 weeks).

Hours and Days: Mon-Fri, 9am - 5pm or similar

Dress Code: Smart casual

Rate of pay: Hourly rate of GBP10.17, plus a holiday enhancement of GBP1.22 per hour

Start Date: June 2022 (subject to agreement)

The role will be situated at the host premises subject to government guidelines.
