**Job Summary**

Charles River are looking for dynamic and self-motivated Scientists/Senior Scientists, who are ready to advance their career to the next level by joining our growing HTS Department. The roles will be based at our Chesterford Park site, although you will be expected to interact across the CRL Early Discovery sites (Leiden in the Netherlands and Harlow in the UK), and with a diverse range of clients across the world.

*Further Responsibilities:*
• To develop, optimize and execute in-vitro biological assays (both biochemical and cellular) for HTS drug discovery projects.
• To lead or have a significant influence on the execution and aspects of strategy for hit finding in drug discovery projects.
• To ensure client projects are delivered to time, proactively resolving issues when they arise.
• To QC equipment and data - using your experience to troubleshoot assays.
• To present own work (and that of others where appropriate) to clients and internal audiences, confidently with clear rationale.
• To maintain an active interest in novel drug discovery screening techniques and disease area literature, applying these findings to current and potential future projects.
• To ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner, complying with all CRL site-based guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification, coupled with relevant experience (ideally gained within industry or an academic screening environment). You will have a passion for applying your scientific expertise to drug discovery collaborations and be enthusiastic about working at the bench.
You will be working on a range of biochemical and cellular assay formats, solving challenging problems, analysing, and reporting data to advance client projects aimed at discovering new medicines.

This role will place you as part of a cross-functional team working at the forefront of drug discovery, interacting with other groups across the organisation including computational chemistry, chemistry, compound management and DMPK.
