Cafe Kraken has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic caf?? manager to join the team in the bustling area of Cowley, Oxford.
We are an eco-centric caf?? aiming to source as locally as possible, offer fresh, organic and seasonal food whilst keeping community at the heart of everything. If you have an interest in sustainability, delicious food and providing quality service, this could be the role for you.
If you are personable, outgoing, able to lead a team, can constantly look ahead and evolve the caf?? to ensure it achieves its full potential, please apply. You must be able to commute to Cowley, Oxford, ideally within walking, cycling and running distance or able to use public transport.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Mentoring the team, leading by example at front of house
* Sales and Marketing duties such as advertising & social media
* Financial forecasting, calculating margins, deciding prices
* Planning evening events such as movie nights, wine & cheese tasting
* Implement new schemes such as return-and-refill,
* Look into growing herbs in-house, possibility of a future vegetable patch
* Ensure the caf??, kitchen and facilities are kept to the highest standard of cleanliness
* Oversee the maintenance and repair of caf?? equipment
* Ensure that food hygiene standards are adhered to
* Source local providers for food produce
* Recruiting, training, and supervising caf?? staff
* Preparing weekly work schedules for staff and finding suitable replacements in cases of staff absence
* Taking inventory of caf?? supplies and ordering new stock as needed
* Ensuring that all caf?? expenses match the ethos of the business and are within budget
* Receiving deliveries of caf?? supplies and verifying that the correct items and quantities have been delivered
* Handle any customer complaints
Essential Skills:
* Excellent communication skills
* Experience managing and leading a team
* Experience scheduling shifts and rota planning
* Experience in monitoring profit and loss & understanding balance sheets
* Top level customer service
* Punctual, and respectful to everyone
* Availability to work within opening hours (including weekends and holidays)
* Baking
Desirable Skills:
* First aid trained
* Food and hygiene certification
* Ability to bake cakes would be a bonus!
* Passion in sustainability and localism
* Knowledge in vegetarian and plant-based cuisine
Hours: The premises shall operate during the hours 8:00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Sunday but some flexibility may be required to cover staff, assisting with deep cleaning etc.
