An exciting opportunity has arisen to work innovatively across a group of Eastbourne schools, supporting children's Speech, Language and Communication Skills.

Swale Academies Trust and Aurora Academies Trust are jointly seeking an experienced and HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist to work across its primary schools.

  • The Langney Primary Academy
  • Shinewater Primary School
  • The Parkland Federation
  • Heron Park Academy
  • Oakwood Academy.

The group of schools are within a short distance from each other and you will be based at each school one day per week under the direction of each school's SENCo. The percentage of pupils in each of these schools having SLCN (speech, language and communication needs) is higher than the national average therefore we are excited by this innovative approach to ensure specialist advice and support is provided to our children and families.

You will be a confident and capable practitioner with a passion for supporting children, particularly in the early years. You will work with these schools to deliver assessment and direct therapy to pupils from nursery to Year 6, with a range of speech, language and communication needs.

You will be comfortable with innovative ways of sharing your skills, including the training and oversight of existing support staff delivering speech and language programmes in each school. You will work across schools to deliver training or coaching for teachers, SENCos and SEND teams, as well as support with monitoring the impact of school based interventions.

The post is advertised as a fixed term until August 2023 initially. For contract purposes only, Langney Primary Academy will be the host school on behalf of Swale Academies Trust. Secondment agreements will be in place for Heron Park and Oakwood Academies.

You will have access to supportive teams and a base to work in each school. You will be surrounded by friendly and experienced SEND teams.

If you want to make a difference to especially ensure the best possible starting points for children as they enter school, we can't wait to hear from you!
