Job Purpose

As an effective Sales Manager you will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in delivering exceptional results and should possess the management and leadership skills required to make a significant contribution to this business by creating an industry leading department. The role will suit an individual who is extremely well organised and thrives on exceeding financial and volume targets. You will be responsible for managing a team of salespeople and presenting a professional front at all times, being a champion of excellent customer service.

This role reports into the General Sales Manager but will be expected to work closely with all departments to foster positive team relationships.

Role and responsibilities

* To manage the activities of the Sales Executives to achieve and exceed vehicle sales, profit targets, plans and budgets

* To "second face" customers to maximise sales and customer satisfaction

* Accurately report on sales (and other performance factors as required) within a timely manner and in the correct format e.g. DOC

* Promote consistently high levels of customer satisfaction

* To have thorough knowledge of the complete product range including new technologies, and have knowledge of our competitors

* Provide coaching and training of all sales staff to improve their job performance, with particular emphasis on: customer satisfaction, sales process, part exchange process, time management, product knowledge and all related items

* To monitor departmental performance, ensure all departments are adhering to the sales process, and taking action as required

* Utilise appropriate data and reports to monitor and control profitability of the Sales Department and to identify opportunities to maximise future opportunities

* Support the Senior Sales Managers to oversee the effective and efficient organisation and staffing of the department, to include managing staff welfare, absence, performance, holidays, return to work interviews plus any disciplinary procedures

* Ensure sales staff provide the highest level of customer service at all times in order to increase customer loyalty and therefore gain repeat business.

* Have and maintain a high level working knowledge of FCA regulations and Sales Department policies and ensure their use in daily operations. Monitor staff compliance with FCA and Sales Department policies through regular reviews, observations and testing..

* Coach team members to ensure that customers are kept informed of the transaction progress

* Build relationships with customers with a view to anticipating future business and strengthening the Company's reputation within the marketplace

* Prepare morning meetings to be engaging, informative, moral building and create a positive working environment

* Ensure all Sales staff complete their allocated site work: Price Changes, flagging issues and straight lines

* Sold cars sent to collection centre. Manage available space vs prepared & available stock (green cones)

* Control qualification area and sales office
