GBR Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established progressive Automotive manufacturing client recruiting for an experienced Buyer from a manufacturing background, ideally in complex high capital products such as Automotive, Rail, Aerospace, HGV's, Buses, Defence Vehicles, Aircraft Support Vehicles, Agricultural Tractors / Combines or similar manufacturing processes.
The experienced Buyer will join the sites purchasing team managing specific procurement contracts / SLA's and closely monitoring / managing suppliers performance, securing required provisions at the best supply costs and the best quality, whilst also ensuring continuity of supply and that contracted specifications are adhered to fully. Additionally you will secure new suppliers & issue PQQ tender documents to prospective suppliers / evaluating all applications & making changes to the supplier base when deemed relevant to do so, to continue to give the business a competitive edge.
Duties to include:
* 360 degree Purchasing role, procuring raw materials, components, parts, packaging, machinery, consumables, miscellaneous products, services etc..
* Purchasing lines such as stainless steel / metals, glazing, under the bonnet engine products, fixtures, fittings, interior products & more
* Effectively manage specified SLA's / contracts, suppliers performance levels and purchasing / supply vs demand projects to achieve the businesses defined strategic plans.
* Have a strong understanding of the business requirements
* Ensuring that all specific product requirements are met fully in terms of the quality / quantity of items purchased and the SLA / contract required, as well as ensuring that all the information required is given to the companies suppliers / prospective suppliers in order to ensure specifications are met.
* Work closely with the wider Operations Team to ensure new products and long term projects are successfully implemented.
* Produce reports and update the business on short, medium and long term purchasing projects.
* Manage Master Data information about the companies vendors, and about the materials and activities that you have obtained from the vendor, such as quantities, prices, price changes, and other costs.
* Understand and implement company procedures correctly for any product, contract changes and implementations.
* Monitoring product trends in terms of most popular products
* Supporting purchasing for NPD / NPI activity
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
* Ideally CIPS qualified, or time served in a comparable purchasing role
* Ideally from Automotive, Aerospace, Rail, Agri, Plant Machinery or other
* High capital market experience (high level GBP per singular item)
* Experience of managing Master Data Information ensuring accuracy of held data is required & a must, in order to be considered for this role
* Manufacturing or Engineered products experience
* Strong computerised systems skills, particularly MRP & ERP systems
* Strong Excel skills (ideally formulas, pivot tables, V look up etc.)
