GENERAL MANAGER (MECHANICAL)
BASED DUNFERMLINE GBP45-GBP60,000 + Vehicle + Bonus + Benefits

Headquartered in Dunfermline with customers around Scotland and other parts of the UK, ESS Recruit's client is a well known leader in their field. They deliver top quality structural/steel and mechanical projects for blue-chip manufacturers in a range of industries; largely FMCG and Whisky.

This long established steel fabrication and mechanical engineering company require a General Manager who will manage and work closely within a collaborative team of three project managers and a shopfloor staff of approximately 25. The company typically has around 10 running projects at any given time.

You will be responsible for all management, project planning and managing the budget and sales. The company's parent company is able to provide further support on sales, marketing, IT and finance. You will act as a key point of contact for all stakeholders including Clients, Suppliers and Consultants.

The Role:

Take responsibility for the safety of all staff and stakeholders of the business at all times, both on customers' sites and at the business's premises.
Take overall ownership and accountability for the successful delivery of projects safely, on time, to the Customer's satisfaction and to budget.
Project planning and scheduling
Budget and cost control, and tracking
Design development including survey work
Procurement, Buying and Expediting
Site Assistance and Quality Control
Fact-based progress reporting and issue identification
Form relationships with key decision makers in Customer organisations
Track major opportunities from inception
Understand budget constraints
Monitor organisational moves in customers Experience:

Steel fabrication and / or mechanical engineering experience preferably with tanks, vessels and pipework or similar.
An engineering background, probably being degree qualified, and a strong understanding / expertise of mechanical, electrical and structural engineering principles
Strong project management experience with a record of projects delivered safely, on time, and to customers specific requirements.
Management experience of working with experienced engineers onsite and on the shopfloor.
Experience of estimating and sales management with customers.
