We are looking for a versatile and outgoing individual to join the College as Internal Exclusion Manager.  The type of person we are looking for is likely to possess infectious enthusiasm, a reliable and highly organised individual, who can multi-task, with a professional and friendly disposition.  He or she will be resilient, driven, determined, and ambitious.

The role of Internal Exclusion Manager is an integral part of the College and will work with students placed in isolation to ensure they receive the appropriate support, sanctions and feedback to reflect on their current behaviour and make a commitment to improvement. The post holder will be the sole supervisor of isolation and therefore must be confident and comfortable working alone and able to demonstrate excellent communication skills in any present role.  They will administrate and supervise the internal exclusion of students in the isolation room and co-ordinate work from relevant subject areas.

Person Specification

The person we are looking for should:

• Relevant training and experience of working with young people aged 11-19
• GCSE grade C or equivalent/higher in Maths and English
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and multi agencies
• Good organisation, time management and interpersonal skills
• A clear understanding of the factors that lead to educational disaffection in young people
• Knowledge and understanding of strategies to remove barriers to learning for young people
• Possess sound IT skills
• Patience, resilience and a genuine understating of the challenges young people face
• An understanding of safeguarding practice in the school settling
• Be committed to the broader education of young people.
• Be a creative, hardworking, lateral thinker.

Job Description

Duties of role will include being able to:

• Supervise students within the isolation room who may have been removed from lessons via the on call system or may be completing periods of internal exclusion.
• Providing challenge and motivation to ensure a calm working environment.
• Maintain appropriate standards of behaviour in the room in accordance with the Behaviour Policy.
• Communicate to staff the daily internal exclusion register.
• Liaise with subject teachers, creating and collating resources and gaining key information about the curriculum and units of work in order to prepare for supporting students during internal exclusion.
• Ensure that the isolation room procedures are adhered to and the room is well maintained, neat and tidy.
• Log behaviour incidents on the relevant system, analyse relevant data and prepare behaviour reports as necessary.
• Attend and contribute to relevant meetings.
• Complete exit interviews with students, complete the appropriate records and communicate with staff.
• Challenge and motivate students to promote and reinforce high levels of self-esteem.
• Use the data to identify repeat patterns of behaviour and work jointly with colleagues to implement strategies to reduce repeat occurrences of isolation for those students.
• Support student reflection on incidents (the antecedents, triggers, their response) and to support restorative actions by liaising with teaching and support staff and the young person’s family
• Assist with after school catch up supervision as appropriate.
• Contribute to the development of strategies to develop and progress the isolation room and internal exclusion supervision.
• Work effectively as a member of the school team responding to the needs of students on the basis of the school’s policies and agreed practices.
• Assist as part of the school on call system as required.
• Liaise with the Heads of Year/ Deputy Heads of Year and the Executive Team regarding students to be placed in internal exclusion.
• Support the supervision of students on internal exclusion at break and lunch time and until 3.30pm/ 4.30pm.
• All staff have a responsibility to ensure that the College’s Safeguarding Policy is adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with the policy. 
• All staff have a responsibility to ensure that the College’s Health and Safety Policy is adhered to and
• Any other appropriate duties and responsibilities relevant to the post as directed by the Chief Executive Officer, Principal, Vice Principals, or Assistant Principals.
