Electric Vehicle (EV) Mobile Service Engineer needed to work across North London, location M25, M11 or A1 area.

Our client is leading supplier of new and used service tractors, Marine, Aviation GSE and Fire and Rescue vehicle and equipment for both sale and hire.

Purpose of this role:
Perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections and subsequent repairs to one or more types of Distribution Tractors, Ro-Ro Tractors and other sea port equipment, Aircraft Equipment (GSE Only) and any other manufacturer's products on customer's premises when requested. Carry out technical inspections or use technical manuals and diagnostic techniques to find and repair inoperable or defective machine parts, components or systems using a small variety of test equipment. Provide technical support for customers, engineers and service support staff - specialising in alternative fuelled vehicles ie. Electric, hydrogen, focusing on areas including batteries, battery management system, drive motor, auxiliary drive pack & control systems.

Will be available for 'out of hours' support for all alternative fuelled vehicles in the region whilst assisting in implementing a regionalised engineer support structure in relation to where EV vehicles are operating.

Responsibilities:

To work as an effective member of the Service Department.
To undertake the tasks and assignments issued by the Service Department either by oral instruction or in the form of electronic work instructions.
To determine own repair and maintenance techniques, undertake equipment selection, proper materials and to implement the correct safety measures e.g. Eye Protection, suitable clothing etc
To obtain agreement from the customer that the work has been completed as required/requested, and in all cases to obtain signature and purchase order number where necessary.
Attend all training courses / seminars as the business requires.
To keep all company equipment in a clean, safe and presentable manner (i.e. company vehicles etc, etc)
To be prepared to work additional hours when required which may include out of hours call out
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications required:

Knowledge of working on electric vehicle technology.
Knowledge of current road traffic law i.e. speed limits, van weight restrictions, driver's hours etc.
Ensure high standards of preventative maintenance and repairs are actioned in line with manufacturers' recommendations/instructions and our Safe System of Work procedures.
Knowledge of latest diagnostic systems.
City and Guilds Level 3 - Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems - Maintenance and Repair Qualification or equivalent qualification.
To demonstrate substantial experience in Auto Electrician fault diagnosis and resultant repairs, including the use of electronic diagnostic equipment. To include working experience of a range of Commercial Vehicles and Specialist Vehicles
Experience of working with electric vehicles.
UK valid driving licence.
This role will start out as a EV Mobile Service Engineer but then as my clients EV fleet expands they would be hopeful that this position/ candidate progress into a new position of "Technical Support Specialist" - Electric Vehicles, and supporting, training and sharing EV knowledge across the rest of the business.

What's on offer:
Salary starts at GBP35kpa, after 6 x months probation will increase to GBP37kpa.
Working hours: 48hrs per week from 7am to 6.30pm + callouts evenings and weekends, when needed.
