Technique Recruitment Solutions have an exciting new opportunity for a Buyer to join a well-established and internationally accredited systems integration company.
Our client undertake the complete design and supply of skid mounted and packaged equipment for the oil, gas and power industries, gas turbine producers and EPC companies.
We are seeking an experienced Buyer to take responsibility for vendor management and cost reduction activities relating to engineering projects therefore the ideal candidate would be from an engineering background.
Working as a member of a cross-functional team which includes engineering, finance, quality, project management and proposals, alongside other project support staff, the main duties include:
Negotiation of supplier Terms and Conditions to ensure best price, delivery, payment terms etc.
Building relationships with sub-contractors, suppliers and clients
Reporting on cost savings and providing analysis reports, as required by Management
Planning strategies for project-based purchasing activities with the aim of achieving cost reduction on bought-out items across all projects
Carrying out supplier performance reviews and reporting on any issues
Setting up systems and documentation, and maintaining accurate records
Line management to expediting & administrative duties.
Candidates applying will have:
Commercial awareness and strong negotiation skills
The ability to forge strong working relationships with suppliers, clients and colleagues
A high level of confidence and excellent communication skills
A full driving licence
The ability to read engineering drawings
Previous experience of carrying out purchasing activities on multi-million pound engineering projects
PC literacy, including competent use of MS Excel
Sage 200 experience would also be advantageous
Whilst no formal qualifications are essential to the success of this role, demonstrable experience in a previous similar role will be expected. CIPS qualification(s) would be an advantage.
This is a hands-on, autonomous role.
This is mainly an office-based role, although some UK and international travel will be required, as dictated by project requirements.
