Shifts can range from 4 hours a day for lunchtime cover to 7.5 hour day shifts. Once the season is over there is the opportunity to carry on working at the organisation as a Casual Worker, covering for staff sickness and holiday, and additional hours primarily at weekends and school holidays. You may also express an interest in any permanent roles that may become available.

Casual Team Member

Salary: GBP9.50 .5% holiday pay per hour (GBP10.78 per hour)

Casual Staff are required to cover for staff sickness and holiday, and additional hours primarily at weekends and school holidays

Location: Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Our client's vision is to be the world's most inspiring Naval Museum: inspiring learning, enjoyment, and engagement with the story of the Royal Navy and its impact in shaping the modern world.

They are recruiting for Team Members and Casual Team Members to join their team working in a unique heritage environment. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking for a customer facing role to deliver a first-class visitor experience in their exceptional attractions at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Reporting to the Visitor Experience Managers and Supervisors, this varied role is pivotal in creating the organisation's vision to become the world's most inspiring Naval Museum.

Action Stations Portsmouth is the home of intense action and adventure where visitors can scale an indoor climbing tower, battle it out at Laser Quest, release their inner Ninja Force, and let their little one's loose on Sky Tykes. These roles will be assisting their visitors to enjoy these ventures.

These roles will be primarily working with young people so will require the post holders to undertake Safeguarding training, which they will provide. Also, these roles will be more physically demanding than their other Front of House roles. Potentially you will be required to react quickly to any incident across Action Stations and this may involve you having to climb equipment to aid visitors, again all training will be provided.

They are looking for friendly and outgoing individuals who will be confident engaging with their audiences. They want every visitor to have an extraordinary and enriching experience, every time they visit. As a Team Member you'll 'make it happen' whether you're welcoming visitors on arrival, serving on the tills or positioned out and about engaging within their galleries, ships and shops.

Key Opportunities

To join a great team working within a unique heritage environment.
Ensuring their visitors are welcomed, assisted, delighted, engaged and inspired.
Selling tickets and merchandise in their shop.
To ensure the safety and security for visitors, staff and property.
As you will be working with children and vulnerable visitors on a daily basis you will be required to undergo safeguarding training.
This will be a physically demanding role which may require you to climb equipment, such as the climbing wall, to support visitors.
Knowledge/Experience

Experience of working in a customer focused environment with retail and sales knowledge an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be given.
Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and Security requirements and a willingness to learn more.
The ability to communicate and engage with a wide and varied audience.
They provide:

The opportunity to be part of a friendly and diverse workplace within a unique heritage environment.
Discounts at their shops and cafes.
Discounted tickets for family and friends.
25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), increasing to 30 days after 5 years' service for employees, pro-rata'd.
Group pension plan with Royal London (6% employer contributions, 2% employee contributions and death in service benefit) for employees.
Employee Assistance Programme for employees.
Digital mental wellness support for employees.
Please state in your application the days of the week and hours per day that you are available for work.
