The role

This Assistant Building Surveyor job is a great opportunity for an ambitious graduate or assistant building surveyor to build on their current practical knowledge, gain exposure in new areas of commercial surveying, and progress through their APC with guidance from experienced chartered building surveyors and APC mentors.

This independent businesses specialises in the management, valuation, development and maintenance of commercial and industrial properties across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and surrounding areas. A well established business with an excellent reputation, these chartered surveyors are experienced, successful, and looking to train up an assistant building surveyor to become a valued member of their professional team.

As an Assistant Building Surveyor you will start your role by assisting senior team members across a range of instructions for commercial and industrial landlords, adding to your knowledge and building confidence in the following areas:

Schedules of Condition & Dilapidations for commercial and residential property leases
Party Wall Matters
Building Surveys for acquisitions, specific defect diagnosis and measurements
Project Management of alterations, decorations (external and internal) extensions, repairs and developmentsDepending on experience you will also be attending surveys independently and liaising with clients throughout instructions from brief to delivery.

The rewards

The key rewards on offer for this position start with your salary which will be from GBP25,000 (first year assistant) up to GBP35,000.

You'll also receive 25 days of annual leave, a private pension with employer matched contribution and fuel and mileage allowance for business travel.

In addition you will receive hands on support towards your APC, ensuring you are provided with the range of work to meet your competencies and a suitable case study along with regular reviews and sessions to provide guidance.

The requirements

To be considered for this position you will need:

To hold a Bachelors, Masters or equivalent level degree in Building Surveying

Possess practical building surveying experience, preferably 18 months post graduate industry experience.

You will need to be commutable to Milton Keynes as you will be expected to be in the office on a regular but flexible basis.

You will also require a full, valid UK driver's license and have access to a vehicle for travel to sites.
