Buyer- required for our client to assist on a variety of projects including Geotechnical works on a joint venture on HS2 based out of the companies High Wycombe office. The Buyer will be working for a well-known company within the industry and be given expert training and development working alongside the established growing Purchasing and Logistics team.
The Buyer will have some knowledge of procurement or experience within a similar role within the construction sector. The buyer will be ensuring a close understanding and up-to-date knowledge of material and plant hire markets, products and suppliers. The Buyer will be responsible for communicating between site supervisors and suppliers to ensure delivery of goods in a timely manner and within budget on each project. The Buyer will appraise suppliers, select suppliers from the approved suppliers list, issue enquiries and orders and liaise closely with various key stakeholders.
Buyer Position Overview
Required to develop and maintain a close understanding and up-to-date knowledge of material and plant hire markets, products and suppliers.
Maintain a good relationship with client and other departments
Monitor and record supplier performance
Support the Procurement & Logistics function as required
Progress the delivery of orders resolving any discrepancies with suppliers and to manage invoice queries.
Communicating between site supervisors and suppliers to ensure delivery of goods in a timely manner and within budget on each project
Appraise suppliers, select suppliers from the approved suppliers list, issue enquiries and orders and liaise closely with various key stakeholders
Supporting the procurement and operations teams with tendering, market analysis, supplier selection, risk and opportunity assessments, forecasting requirements
Buyer Position Requirements
Either educated to A-level standard
CIPS level 4 qualified
3-5 years' experience in a Purchasing environment.
Proven experience within a procurement or construction environment.
Good commercial awareness and be organised
Working towards CIPS
Excellent numerical accuracy and communication skills both verbally and written
Exceptional IT skills - Microsoft packages
Knowledge of purchasing software would be advantageous
Buyer Position Remuneration
Salary up to GBP33K DOE
26 Days holiday + BH
37 hours per week and overtime paid
