Mech Tech Professionals is actively recruiting for an Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor for our leading manufacturing client in Gwent.
Our client is a global manufacturer with 14,000 employees worldwide and 1300 based in the UK. They are currently undergoing site expansion and are looking to recruit an Environmental Health and Safety Technician to aid in their environmental impact and health and safety on site.
This is an idyllic role for an individual with a background in health and safety or as a technician in manufacturing or a building management environment.
The successful candidate You will join the company's' Environmental Health and Safety team and will have key responsibilities for health and safety within the UKs largest production site of their nature. Due to expansion, they are currently undergoing modernisation and have a large amount of new machinery arriving to produce their cutting-edge products.
In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of life safety systems whilst managing and liaising with onsite contractors. You will be responsible for coordinating the down time of valuable machinery whilst health and safety issues are investigated and repaired.
You will work on the EHS systems that support a variety of tools both key to the 24-7 production on site. Other areas of responsibility will include
* Fire safety systems and gas detection systems in and out of the manufacturing site.
* Ensuring all life safety systems maintenance and replacement schedules are met on time and in full.
* Provide health and safety induction training for new starters, contractors, vendors and visitors and maintain training records.
* Organise remedial actions for life safety systems in the event of maintenance issues and/or breakdown.
* Maintain records and schedules for maintenance visits and update the Facilities CMMS.
* Supporting business needs through the provision of an efficient and effective Environmental, Health and Safety service.
* Supporting the Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer(s) to carry out their duties.
* Support company legislative and external certification requirements such as ISO14001, ISO50001 and ISO45001.
To be considered for this position, we require the following qualifications and experience:
* Minimum two years' experience within a facilities-based department, environmental, health and safety team OR maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
* IT literacy essential (Word, basic use of Excel etc)
* NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (desirable)
* IEMA Associate Environmental Certificate (desirable)
This role is ideal for someone with a background in Health and Safety, or previous time spent as a Technician on a production or manufacturing site.
