H&S Advisor - Solar PV Construction

H&S Advisor - Solar PV Construction, Central England Home + (site based 3 days a week). Salary to 39,000 + 6,000 car allowance + bonus

This is an exciting new job with a high growth solar PV construction firm who are extremely busy building out a 500 MW pipeline of large scale solar and battery storage projects.

We're looking for an HSE professional who is able to travel to large scale solar build sites in the UK. Location is flexible, but somewhere Central like Oxford / Milton Keynes would be perfect.

The role

The position reports to the Head of Construction and has a significant site-based element (typically three days site visits per week), working with site management on projects in the construction phase and within the O&M environment.

The role presents an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor with solid construction experience to join the renewables sector with an established and ambitious company.

Key responsibilities

* Provision of health & safety support and advice to the construction and O&M departments
* Completion of site inspections on solar construction and O&M sites
* Trend analysis of inspection findings, identification of causation, creation of action plans to address
* Assisting in drafting, and review, of risk assessment and method statements
* Always promote safe behaviour and values on site and lead by example
* Encourage an open and positive safety culture
* Engaging and supporting the workforce to reduce risk
* Accurately record and review health and safety data
* Assisting in accident/incident investigation to ensure identification of underlying, and root, causation
* Provision of project specific advice, including providing input at pre-construction stage
* Completion of internal audit against the requirements of the health and safety management system
* Identification of training needs and competency requirements
* Contribute to bids and customer / project presentations
* Monitor and improve process compliance and performance for the Project(s) - Action planning and tracking for the Project(s)

Essential requirements

* Passionate about the provision of a safe and healthy working environment that positively impacts the natural environment
* Experience as a H&S Adviser in a construction, electrical, or related technical environment
* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate, or industry recognised equivalent
* High capacity for new learning and enthusiastic approach to tasks
* Proactive approach and work ethic
* Interest in the renewables and alternative energy sector
* Good communicator with influencing and persuasion skills
* Full UK driving licence
* Self-motivated, team player
* IT skills (MS Office Suite) and computer literacy

Desirable

* Previous solar / renewables experience
* Technical (or Graduate) member of IOSH
* Experience of achieving and maintaining ISO45001

Remuneration

Salary range 35,000 - 39,000 + 6,000 car allowance + bonus
