Desktop Support Engineer
Location - Bedford
Duration - 6 Months
Brief
Desktop Support Engineer contractor needed for a multinational defence organisation based in Bedford, who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Desktop Support Engineer to provide day-to-day delivery of technical support for end-users of client applications, VOIP telephones, smartphones, tablets, printers and computer hardware.
What the role entails:
Some of the main duties of the Desktop Support Engineer will include:
Resolve incidents & requests using Service Central whilst adhering to agreed SLAs where possible
Assist with maintaining the asset tracking system when required
Participate in project work as required such as software and hardware refresh programmes
Deploy, maintain and support iOS devices
Write, update and maintain written processes and procedures
Travel to support other sites within the UK where required
What experience you need to be the successful Desktop Support Engineer:
Previous technical support experience
Ability to demonstrate a customer first mentality
In depth knowledge and experience of various Microsoft operating systems is essential
Detailed knowledge of supporting the Microsoft Office suite
Experience of basic Active Directory administration
Proven troubleshooting skills via phone, chat or remote desktop
Experience of working in defence or central government industries would be advantageous
Basic knowledge of ITIL framework - incident, problem & change management
Knowledge of Service Now or other Service Desk systems
Understanding of networking principles such as DHCP, DNS and network connectivity troubleshooting
Proven Apple iOS support knowledge
