Part-Time Biological Services Administrator

LOCATION: Exeter SALARY: From GBP21,686 pro-rata REF: ALS 2661

On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit a Part-Time Biological Services Administrator to assist with administrative systems and be a key support for compliance across the Biological Services department. The role holder will support the management team with day-to-day administration across all of the animal facilities, and will have a keen eye for detail and familiarity with common software systems.

This is role is part-time working 0.5 FTE.

Basic Requirements:

* Educated to A-Level or equivalent

* Recent, relevant administrative experience

* Experience in handling complex processes, tracking progress and reporting on outcomes

* Knowledge of Higher Education

* An understanding of the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and associated Home Office guidance is highly desirable

* Excellent IT skills including proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and web based programmes

* Ability to work independently, including experience in prioritising and meeting deadlines under pressure

* Excellent customer care and liaison.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Act as the key member of staff in administrative support across the Biological Services department, assisting with smooth running of the facilities and Home Office requirements

* Support the Head of the department with general administration such as organising meetings, writing minutes, updating action logs, action trackers and other associated activities

* Support the Named Training and Competency Officer with training record and induction administration for all licence holders across the department

* Support the team with ordering tasks as required for animal facilities on the finance system and associated administration

* General administration including room bookings, meeting scheduling, note taking and the following up of actions

* Assisting with Health and Safety administration tasks and writing documents including COSHH, SOPs, and Risk Assessments

* Build and develop ongoing relationships to ensure effective communications and effective working

* Plan, prioritise, and organise own work to achieve agreed objectives

* Analyse routine data or information using predetermined procedures and to gather information from standard sources.
