Reports to- Communications and Engagement Manager
Responsible for- Supporting the delivery of the Communications and Engagement strategy, providing a support service to clinical services and internal/external stakeholders including patients, carers, visitors, the public and partner organisations.
Job summary
The post holder will provide specialist communications and engagement support to the Trust as part of the delivery of the Communications and Engagement Strategy. This includes responsibility for a range of communication and engagement activities as well as support with internal and external channels for the overall team.
Key responsibilities:
* Understand and support the delivery of the Communications and Engagement strategy objectives and how they align with Trust's strategic vision, values and goals.
* Support the implementation of meaningful two-way communication of Trustwide and locally specific information
* Develop outline communication/engagement action plans and provide general advice and support to stakeholders on messaging, implementation and monitoring progress/outcomes.
* Collaborate and partner with colleagues in services, service users, patients and carers to maintain good relationships and to proactively identify communications and engagement opportunities
* Promote meaningful engagement of stakeholders to develop a culture of real involvement throughout the Trust - from design, development to delivery.
* Gather information from both CWP and wider sources to inform reactive and proactive communications and engagement approaches to good reputation management and generating positive news stories for the Trust.
Qualifications:
A good standard of education to Graduate level or equivalent knowledge.
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in communications, engagement or a related discipline.
Understand the main principles of communications and engagement, including experience of developing and delivering campaigns across internal and external channels
Good presentation and communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to build rapport and credibility with staff, service users, carers and members of the public.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products specifically Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
Demonstrate a good understanding of Equality and Diversity in relation to service user and carer involvement.
Understanding of the impact of stigma in relation to mental illness, learning disabilities and substance dependency.
Knowledge of key issues currently facing the NHS
Knowledge of existing and end emerging guidance and policy around the involvement of service users, carers and the public within the NHS
Experience:
Experience of writing and engaging with for different audiences
Experience of event planning from concept to delivery
Experience of online writing for different audiences
Experience of liaising with external agencies.
Demonstrable experience in working with online media - this should include content management systems
Knowledge/experience of using online media platforms to achieve objectives within communication campaigns
Experience of working as a member of a team as well as on your own
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products
Experience of working with a variety of people and groups, including clinical and non-clinical staff, the public, community, faith and voluntary sector organisations.
Evidence of working in the NHS
Project management skills
Direct experience of the services provided by the Trust, either as a service user or carer.
Experience of working in mental health, learning disability, drug/alcohol services, or community care services in the NHS
Experience in website development / design / content management
Competent in the use of Adobe Photoshop, audio and video recording equipment and online content management systems
Application/ interview/test
Analytical and judgemental skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment handling challenging issues on a regular basis
Ability to identify main points from documents and to communicate these to a wide variety of audiences.
Ability to use sound judgement to handle sensitive and personal information
Ability to interpret complex information such as policy documents and legislation
Ability to demonstrate problem solving
Ability to use prioritisation techniques to manage diverse workload
Knowledge and understanding of a range of survey and consultation techniques
