Phoenix Learning and Care Group works in the specialist education and care industries supporting 200+ young people, students and adults with around 500 employees.

Our Group IT environment is complex and dynamic covering multiple locations across a large geography. As we evolve as an organisation there is growing need, demand and dependence on fit for purpose IT systems, devices and processes to allow our front line facing and support service colleagues to deliver the best possible care and support for all those we look after. The IT function supports all the organisation's IT needs ranging from provision and maintenance of hardware, deployment of software systems, administering and developing our security safeguards in an ever evolving and technically diverse landscape and continually striving to enhance the use and adoption of innovative information technology.

The Role:

The role of the IT Technician will be to provide, along with other IT technicians and third party specialist support, a first class IT service and robust IT environment. The IT Technician's responsibilities will range from supporting front line queries through our helpdesk for 1st line requests through to bespoke IT projects delivery and everything in between. The role will include, but is not limited to, the following

Key Responsibilities:

Be an active and supportive member of the Group's IT team, working in collaboration and autonomously to meet the needs of the organisation

Act as first line response for daily IT requests through the Group's online helpdesk software and dealing with any queries. Using the helpdesk software to escalate requests or jobs to relevant other IT technicians

Ability to use the Group's remote access software to manage and deal with basic 1st level jobs and provision of remote support to sites further away from their base location

Carrying out CCTV checks and managing the systems deployed across the Phoenix sites. Keeping all systems up to date and working effectively whilst also responding to any requests from operational colleagues for CCTV footage

Supporting and leading in hardware rebuilds for equipment returned to the IT department as faulty or damaged. Ability to effectively problem solve and identify solutions to faulty laptops, PCs and other devices to support the redeployment of these in a timely and efficient manner

Contribution in managing the IT team's administration and processing of recycling & dismantling activities of faulty or broken equipment ensuring all required standards are adhered to (WEEE)

To be cognisant and aware of the Group's GDPR requirements and the role the IT team plays in ensuring a compliant environment and processes. Keeping abreast of changing legislation in this area and working with the team to change processes or systems to remain compliant

To support the IT team's ongoing and future projects including any deployment of new software, hardware and being an active player in ensuring these are delivered

Support the management of the active directories and Office 365 user management including dealing with password requests and resets

To work with the IT team and Group Finance Director in the project to relocate the Group's data architecture and current network file storage to the cloud through the use of Sharepoint and/or OneDrive through its Modern Workplace Projects

Support the creation and deployment of the Group's first ever intranet to help improve internal communications

Maintenance of the Group's IT asset register in collaboration with other IT technicians

Administration and management of the VOiP system and changing of user extensions and setting up of new users including giving guidance on use of hardware

Flexibility and ability to visit Group sites to provide in person support and interventions when required
