IT Operation Engineer GBP45,000 P/A

Opportunity of a lifetime to work for a renowned organisation on the side-lines of extreme sports

Working within the IT Operations Team, you will form part of a team of engineers which commission, manage and maintain servers, workstations, and virtualised systems for the primary purpose of events. You will be required to attend the events or work at the office during events. You will be responsible for maintaining systems during live events, additionally Business As Usual administration and maintenance outside the event schedule.

For you to be the ideal candidate you would have experience working in the IT Infrastructure industry and will have experience with SQL Database administration. You should have strong VMware administration skills and Microsoft Backoffice skills such as Active Directory, domain administration experience etc. Experience in traditional server, Hyper Converged Infrastructure, and workstation deployments, including continual service improvements, patching, backups, Anti-Virus etc.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To commission and maintain the operational IT infrastructure at fixed, event, cloud, co-located and remote sites, to support events, Test Sessions and any other additional events as appropriate
To commission and maintain any Test and Development systems and services that support the operational IT systems and services
Manage and maintain IT systems from development through staging to production
To project manage appropriate changes and additions to the IT operational infrastructure
To be responsible for IT operational systems and intervene where and when required, in a timely manner appropriate to the issue and severity
To document systems and services and assist the documentation process within the team and department
To specify and design upgrades and development plans to the operational IT systems and services
Liaise with equipment and software vendors to specify maintenance contracts and SLA's. Ensuring these contracts are fit for purpose, relevant and in-place
To liaise with other internal and external project teams to meet company objectives for the operational systems
To assist with budget preparation including when required system diagrams and information for justification rationale
To share knowledge and experience with team members in a manner that enhances the overall performance of the team or department
To provide and maintain an adequate disaster recovery / business continuity plan for the operational systems
Take ownership of escalated incidents, ensuring root causes are found and resolved
To provide and maintain a secure IT operating environment for the business and the operational users
To produce system reports and statistics as required
To produce root cause analysis reports in case of failures and issues
To attend meetings when requested
To provide user support and guidance as necessary within the organisation
To be available to work on systems outside of usual 'Business Hours', both planned and unplanned
To travel when required to events, test events etc
When required, to rig, commission and then following the event, de-rig the IT operational Systems at events
To travel when required to colocation Data Centre's, company business sites and partners premises
To keep abreast of developments in the IT Industry, and consider proactively how these may be incorporated into the IT Infrastructure
To always operate safely in line with company health and safety requirements
To complete all mandatory training within specified timelines
To undertake other duties within your capabilities as your Team Manager or Department Manager may assign to you from time to time
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current technologies and technical developments

The "IT Operational Infrastructure" includes but not limited to: o Server Operating Systems, SQL, server application toolsets

Virtualisation systems and services such as VMware, Hyper-V or Kubernetes
Server and client computer hardware and peripherals
Microsoft?? Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS,DHCP, WSUS etc.
Azure AD, ADFS, Conditional Access, SSO etc.
Traditional server, HCI, workstation and virtual machines
Data Storage, Data Transfer, Virtual and Physical Tape Libraries.
Cloud based Infrastructure Systems and services
Anti-Virus, Deployment and Backup Applications
Reporting Services, Integration Services, Analysis Services
Web-Services, Portals and Data Feeds
