Overview
The Dementia Support Service supports the needs of people living with dementia and their carers by organising weekly activity groups across the Dundee area.
The Role
As a Service Manager, you will lead and manage the delivery of five weekly support and activity groups, facilitating the successful and safe provision of services for people living with dementia and their carers.
As part of your role, you will oversee the effective day-to-day co-ordination of staff and volunteers, manage the budget and ensure all activities comply with relevant policies, procedures and regulations.
We're currently looking for a Service Manager to join our team on a full-time, fixed-term contract until the end of March 2024.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Managing a team of staff and/or volunteers who provide the services in the local area involving co-ordinating where services will be delivered and who will deliver them
- Regularly visiting the weekly support groups to provide support to staff and volunteers
- Promoting the services on social media to increase the number of service users
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key local contacts - growing the profile of our services by engaging with healthcare providers, other volunteer groups and families to promote referrals
- Managing the recruitment, induction, development and motivation of staff and volunteers
- Monitoring the service budget, specifically service income and expenditure
Working Hours
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) which will involve working across the Dundee area as well as remotely from home on a fixed-term contract until the end of March 2024.
What you'll need
- Experience of working at supervisory / management level
- An understanding of the NHS and Health and Social Care Bodies would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
- The initiative to regularly identify positive outcomes and benefits to service users to feed back to funding bodies
- The ability to proficiently use standard IT systems, particularly Excel
- A proactive approach towards managing remote teams and services
- A full, valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be an advantage
- This role will require a DBS check
