Controls Engineer - Submarines
As Controls Engineer you will:
Design and create solutions to support the definition of the vehicle control system. Working as a key SME in the control systems domain you will work with the team across multiple stakeholders within the project. You will support the team on a day to day basis with technical decisions, design reviews and producing the detailed design documentation.
You will also be responsible in supporting the design of the vehicle control system sub systems which would typically include the following: Steering and Diving Control System, Ballast Control, Depth Control, Autopilot & Safe Manoeuvring.
You will contribute to the definition of the vehicle control system scope, security, safety, capabilities and through-life management intent.
As part of your role, you will be expected to be able to write technical specifications clearly and succinctly, and produce graphical, schematic, and written artefacts to explain their work to the customer, to their peers, and to their critics.You will have:
A relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or, Mathematics (STEM) degree or equivalent qualification and experience within an engineering background.
Significant demonstrable experience of the appropriate engineering lifecycle phases and technical specialities
Systems engineering experience, including requirements definition and management
knowledge of closed loop control system modelling
Strong experience in designing closed loop control systems
Complex systems detailed design and component parts specification would be advantageous.
Having obtained or capable of obtaining relevant professional registration (CEng)The package:
This role will be based in either Barrow-in-Furness / Filton / Weymouth / Portsmouth / Frimley and will have a hybrid working arrangement.
Salary will be up to 53k depending on level of experience
Although these roles are being offered on a permanent basis, contract options are also available.
