Part-time - 3 days per week

Our client has a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing team dealing with high quality and varied planning and environmental work. The role will include both an administrative element as well as the chance to become involved in case work as your knowledge grows.

You will provide professional, proactive, legal and administrative support to an allocated group of fee earners and to the wider fee earning team

Whilst this initial focus of this role is as a legal administrator with some low level paralegal work, applications from more experienced candidates would also be welcome and there will be opportunities to progress to more complex legal work in line with your experience as you develop.

Tasks will include:

* Produce correspondence and documents, spreadsheets and presentations to ensure relevant documentation is produced to a high standard

* To be, or become expert in legal software such as Hi Q, Expert Time Recording and Compare Docs

* To open files, carry out conflict checks, co-ordinate billing, prepare update reports for clients, monitor and chase ongoing matters and prepare initial and follow up correspondence following receipt of instructions from the client

* Liaising with fee earners and clients in respect of their matters and assist as instructed

* Updating the client on progress when required

* To format, paginate, number and present documents in the in-house style or client standard form

* To deal with the completion of transactional matters such as section 106 agreements

* To proof read all work, checking for spelling and grammar

* To immediately clarify instructions from fee earners and the client should they be unclear or if deadlines are not made explicit

* To respond to internal and external telephone enquiries politely and professionally and take accurate telephone messages

* To provide full support to fee earners and to carry out any other duties as reasonably requested.

Skills/Experience:

* Legal experience is desirable but training will be provided

* Excellent computer/technical skills in particular working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

* Strong written and oral communication skills

* Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority and liaise effectively with other internal departments and external contacts

* Positive and enthusiastic approach to team work

* A flexible, highly motivated, proactive and 'can do' working style

* Ability to pay attention to detail and check own work

* Good organisational skills, able to prioritise, make decisions and work effectively within a sometimes pressurised environment
