Role Council Tax Billing Officer
Contract 3 Month
Grade L4
Pay GBP11.02 per hour
Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Council Tax Billing Officer on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their Customer and Commercial Services department!
As a Council Tax Billing Officer you will responsible to work as a member of the team, being responsible for the billing administration and collection of Council Tax.
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate the ability to operate within defined procedures and legislative requirements. You will deal with large volumes of work that are required to be completed within tight deadlines. You must be able to plan and organise your workload, to produce effective and efficient workflow.
About the Role
Process credit balance reports and action refunds promptly
Process suspense items and transfers, new and cancelled Direct Debits for Council Tax, bills and reminders accordance with the agreed procedure and deal with responses
Amendments including changes to occupation, banding, direct debits, entitlement to relief's discounts exemptions and changes to payment method.
Dealing with correspondence and other forms of communication, updating and maintaining manual and computerised records.
Assisting in determination of statutory reliefs, discounts and exemptions from Council Tax and systematic renewals of entitlement. Making referrals to visiting officers for void cases, exemptions and occupations.
Updating the Council Tax list to agreed standards, including balancing to the Valuation Officer totals when it is appropriate,
Assist with the billing and reminder schedules for Council Tax accounts.
Ensure Council Tax bills and reminders are posted
About you
Able to communicate verbally and writing a wide range of customers
Demonstrable experience of working in an office environment, using and maintaining manual and computerised systems.
Demonstrable experience of working in a high volume of billing environment.
Able to use accurately maintain manual and computerised records.
Ability to prioritise and organise your own workload to meet targets and deadlines.
