Design Die Engineer

Shipley

Salary: GBP40,000

Hours: Mon - Thurs 8.30am - 5pm and Fri - 8.30am- 1.30pm

Grafton Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Design Die Engineer to join a busy Maintenance Team based in Shipley. Our client is a leading player in the design and manufacture heat exchange units and cooling modules.

The Role

The position will work within a multi-discipline engineering team and be responsible for the design, development and implementation of die designs, improvements and modifications to meet the needs of our manufacturing facility.

The range of activities can involve modifications to existing pressed dies, product engineering initiatives, cost-reduction, major and minor customer specific developments. The role will play an integral part in supporting production to overcome problems and make improvements to existing dies.

Responsible for the management and creation of die designs from drawings to completion.
Responsible for the retrieval and storage of drawings from a central register.
Innovative a proactive approach to solutions to problems of new and existing die designs
Manage projects to achieve the delivery of die designs, within budget, on schedule and to specification.
Follow the TS16949 /QS9000 procedures with respect to the creation of requirements and specifications.
Communicate customers to provide updates as necessary.
Process, review and expedite work orders, schematics, check sheets modifications, job instructions and calibration records.
Input to production specification review meetings in relation to die designs.

Skills and Qualifications

Apprentice trained tool maker is extremely advantageous.
2 years + 'hands on ' experience of die design of press dies.
Minimum 2 years' experience using a 2DCAD (AutoCAD) system with 3D Pro
Eng modelling experience is advantageous.
Experience in mechanical design, mechanism and machine design would be advantageous.
Knowledge of CNC/EDM machines and experience of industrial /automated production lines is desirable.
Able to use mathematical formulae in the development of solutions to problems.
Project management skills along with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
Good stakeholder management skills
Ability to negotiation with others suppliers and internal departments.Benefits
