We're looking for a skilled Communications professional to join our brilliant, award-winning Digital Engagement team.

We're the communications specialists responsible for telling the story of DWP's huge digital transformation, of how our expert in-house digital teams are building and modernising DWP's products and services.

We engage DWP colleagues, build the DWP Digital brand, and help reach the digital experts we need to hire to deliver a generational change to government products and services.

Delivering with Pride.

You'll join our multi award-winning Digital Engagement team. We work at the heart of the DWP Digital, setting out the overall strategy and role for communications and engagement across Digital. The team develops innovative communications strategies and delivery plans to engage multiple audiences.

Your job will be to lead a team, driving and delivering strategic internal communications and engagement across Digital Group and DWP.

You will work closely with the Head of Digital Engagement on a fully joined-up strategy spanning our internal and external engagement priorities.

This will include:

Development and delivery of internal engagement strategies so DWP colleague understand what their works means, have the information they need to do their jobs, and feel part of the organisation.

Leading on briefings for Digital Group. You'll ensure that the group communicates with ministers, parliamentarians, NAO and other important stakeholders with absolute clarity, consistency, and transparency.
Overseeing our major incident communications model, ensuring we keep colleagues informed and engaged when disruption occurs through targeted, transparent and helpful information (this is a 24/7 service and will involve out-of-hours on-call work, shared with other colleagues).
Providing strong professional leadership to team members and the wider Digital Engagement Community, coaching and motivating, and empowering them to be creative and at their best.

Your skills and experience:

Proven expertise in internal engagement strategies which deliver measurable business outcomes, and ability to align these effectively at strategic and delivery level with wider communications activities
Proven strategic communications skills across the planning and delivery lifecycle
Ability to lead multiple teams in identifying and applying insight, developing and implementing innovative and effective communications plans, and using evaluation data to measure and improve activity.
Excellent influencing and relationship-building skills at all levels, and a highly-collaborative, team-playing approach.
Evidence of strong political awareness, professional judgement and ability to deal with ambiguity, and a track record of providing clear, balanced, credible advice at senior level.
Excellent people and project leadership skills: able to direct, motivate and support large teams, maximising performance and protecting wellbeing, including during periods of pressure.
Experience of working in a large and complex organisation.
