Position: Quantity Surveyor

Our client
A regional social housing contractor has a new opportunity for a Quantity surveyor to join their offices based in South Yorkshire. Their portfolio of work spans across internal, external, and environmental upgrades to tenanted and void properties. They work closely with a number of local authorities, housing associations and RSL. The company are currently going from strength to strength and are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work on Social Housing refurbishment schemes based in the South Yorkshire region.
The role
Reporting to a Commercial Manager you will be responsible for ensuring contracts are delivered to maximum profitability and efficiency from site set up stages through to final accounts.
Daily duties/key responsibilities:
Preparation of bills and/or schedules for quantities of materials, labour and services required in the construction and refurbishment of building works in relation to both Estimating and Post contract duties.
Preparation and valuation of progress and submission to client
Sub-contract procurement including sending out enquiries, collating prices, negotiation, order placement
Sub-contract valuations and payments in connection with any contract.
Preparation of internal cost reporting measures.
Advice when required on cost management, or value management.
Maintaining quality control procedures.
Health & Safety management.
Undertaking all tasks in a timely fashion and as required by management.
Ensure cash flow is maximised
The successful applicant will ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) and have a stable career progression within quantity surveying. Experience within the social housing sector is not necessary but ideal. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of financial and technical knowledge within the sector and have a sound understanding of contractual and legal processes rewired with partnering frameworks.
What is on offer
A salary ranging from GBP35,000 - GBP50,000 depending upon experience. There is also a generous bonus scheme along with a company car. This is alongside 25 days of holiday + bank holidays.
