About the organisation:

They are a 134-year-old Charity and Trading organization that covers Wiltshire, Somerset, Mendip, Bristol and BANES. Their departments include 2 commercial hostels, Health and Fitness suite, 10 nurseries, supported housing, move on housing and emergency housing. To enable the Charity to deliver the important support to young people, any surplus from their commercial operations is ploughed back into the Charity.

What does the job entail?

You will be working as part of a team to create a warming and welcoming atmosphere for the hostel guests and young residents.

As a night Manager they are looking for someone to:

Deal with reservations, enquiries and meeting room bookings.
Work closely with the Hostel Manager to safeguard the wellbeing of their guests and make their stay as comfortable as possible.
Manage their online booking system, replying to emails and general administration.
Provide information on local attractions and events.
Contribute to a warm, friendly atmosphere and a sense of community amongst guests, residents and colleagues.
Effectively balance the needs of their commercial guests and the young people needing housing support.
Responsible for the safety of the hostel, their guests and residents.
Practical tasks to ensure that the hostel is kept clean and safe, paying special attention to the communal areas.
Liaising with the housekeeping and maintenance team and other Duty Manager's to report any maintenance tasks that need carrying out.
Working closely with their restaurant team and assisting with the restaurant when needed.
Manage challenging and inappropriate behaviour in accordance with their hostel policy.
Delivering and setting up catering for meetings and events in the hostel.
Carry out regular checks of the building, following lone working and health and safety procedures.
Other administrative tasks which may include banking.
Ensure the department complies with all health & safety and hygiene statutory regulations and that records are maintained up to date.
Any other duties that may be reasonably required by the organization.
Comfortable lone working at night.
What skills will the successful candidate need?

To do this job and work to the organisation's standards, they are looking for candidates who have:

Proven experience of working within the hospitality industry (essential)
Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for effective safeguarding for school, college and sporting groups. This post will be DBS checked.
Excellent customer service skills, including experience of handling difficult situations (essential)
Proven ability of managing varying pressure, including peaks in workload demands
Experience of cash handling
Have previous experience using an online booking reservations system
Understanding of Health and Safety & Compliance requirements
Be a real people person
Have experience running a small team
Be supportive to the team and a can-do person.

Contract type: Permanent

Working Hours: 30 hours per week/40 hours per week. Alternate weeks working 30 hours then 40 hours the next.

Salary: GBP12.00 per hour for night shifts
