Sustainability Projects Manager

Competitive salary of around £45,000 per annum DOE
Hybrid Working, flexible working considered, electric car

In this new and exciting role, your skills and experience will be key to the development of a range of projects that will increase sustainability throughout our business. If you’re enthusiastic and motivated with experience in a water company environment, this is a brilliant opportunity to join our innovative company.

The role

As Sustainability Projects Manager, you will support medium to long-term projects that will help to define our approach to sustainability.

Specifically, you will manage the end-to-end delivery of a broad range of sustainability-focused projects across the SES Water and East Surrey Holdings (ESH) businesses, centred around our resources, operations and estates.

You will also have the chance to represent us in a broad range of key external forums and working groups aimed at progressing our sustainability strategy, capability and reputation.

This role is predominantly office and site-based on a hybrid working basis, with a requirement to travel across the operating region and occasionally outside of this. This will include working three days in the office and two days at home.

Other organisations may call this role Sustainability Manager, Sustainability Planning Manager, or Environmental Sustainability Manager.

About you

We’re seeking a Sustainability Projects Manager with:

- A clear understanding of the water sector and its current and potential future sustainability challenges
- A broad understanding of sustainability drivers and legislation
- Direct involvement in environmental or sustainability-focused projects or operations
- Experience in a water company environment – client-side or supply chain
- Familiarity with the challenges of working in a highly regulated environment
- Multi-stakeholder relationship management experience
- Project or portfolio management experience as a lead or team member
- Strong written, numeric and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiasm and self-motivation
- Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
- A minimum of three A levels, or equivalent, in relevant subjects

A relevant technical degree and/or professional qualification would be beneficial to your application, as would experience working with landowners and local authorities.

Knowledge of energy and waste industries and net zero carbon options available to the water sector would be equally advantageous, as would knowledge of planning regulations.
