The Science, Technology, Engineering and Professional School at Kingston College are now looking for a Head of Section to lead and manage the Engineering section and become a member of the School Management Group. In conjunction with other members of the School Management Group, you will communicate the policies and procedures we agree and adopt such as target setting and progress review calendars, and then ensuring that all staff deliver them to a high quality, complying with the expectation set.

Teaching on the Engineering programmes, focussing on the BTEC programmes, you will ensure that students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications at high levels and develop long-lasting learning and employability skills. Success is measured in terms of meaningful progression in education and training, value added and destination into Higher Education and/or employment.

We’re looking for someone who holds a degree or appropriate professional qualification in Engineering and who can deliver the following Engineering areas; Mechanical Maintenance, Welding, Mechanical Systems and Fabrication. Recognised as a good or better teacher, you will have sound knowledge of the curriculum offered in the Section and have a firm grasp of current and impending changes to the curriculum. With a proven track record of improving and managing a high quality curriculum, you will demonstrate leadership and management qualities in the context of curriculum and staff management and be able to work with teams, identifying training and development needs for both teaching and support teams.

A teaching qualification is not essential although you will need to be willing to undergo teacher training in line with current regulations.
