PURCHASING MANAGER
SMETHWICK
MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
Monday - Thursday (7:30am - 4:00pm) / Friday - 7:30am - 12:30pm

A very well-established, highly successful and growing Manufacturing business has a requirement for a motivated and driven Purchasing to join their multi-site business. This role would appeal to either an Experienced Purchasing Manager or a Senior Buyer looking to move in to a Management position.
This role involves the leadership and development of a Purchasing Team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will be entrusted with and given full autonomy and ownership of the Purchasing function, playing an integral role in the success of this department!
This position will appeal to an experienced Purchasing professional who has a mindset geared towards the development of both people and internal / external processes. Experience within a Steel Manufacturing context is highly desirable!
Role Description
*Build and maintain positive trust relationships with key suppliers and vendors
*Purchase steel of the right quality at the most competitive prices, so as to maximise production opportunities and to ensure purchase contracts are clearly articulated with regard to pricing/quality/delivery/tonnage/claims
*Keep internal customers informed of steel delivery status and advise of any delays/shortages/quality issues
*Carry out market analysis to determine future steel availability
*Visit suppliers to discuss and review supply performance, quality and report this back to the relevant departments.
Skills and Qualifications
*Purchasing Management experience within ideally Manufacturing environment.
*5+ years of experience within a similar Purchasing role.
*Ideally have a CIPS Level 4 Qualification
*Ability to lead and develop a team.
*Strong commercial acumen, communication, and organisational skills.
