This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join an established business on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be qualified to college level in an Engineering or Physics discipline and have 8+ years' experience in a related telecommunications role.
THE ROLE:
Technically Lead and Manage projects
Work at all stages of project delivery to ensure timely delivery and specification compliance
Liaise with Customers as required on technical matters to progress project delivery
Create appropriate project design drawings, documents and technical analysis, such as Satellite Link Budgets, Optical Fibre Budgets etc
Attend customer design meetings
Help to organise site phase logistics (facilitate team travel & accommodation, liaise with local freight forwarders for equipment deliveries etc)
Maintain a project time plan, including global overview or detailed day-by-day site plan
Support or Lead; Earth Station FAT/SAT programmes
THE CANDIDATE:
Strong technical understanding of technologies associated with the design and implementation of satellite ground segment equipment and systems
Knowledge of IP routing technologies and broadcast systems is desired
Proven project management skills, as necessary for the effective management of project delivery
Understanding of project planning processes
Excellent organisational skills
Proven ability to interact effectively with customers - in meetings, presentations, discussion of project plans and working out remedial action plans.
Ability to travel abroad for meetings and system installation / test which may require several weeks
