Telecoms Engineer (Fibre)

* Home-Based covering Scotland and North East England

* cGBP25,000 to GBP35,000 per year (plus an excellent benefits package)

The Opportunity:

We are currently looking for a number of Telecoms Engineers to fill positions based in Scotland and the North East England. These are field based engineer roles, which will involve installation and splicing of fibre optic infrastructure to residents and businesses in the areas.

We are happy to speak to anyone with an interest in this sector, but are ideally looking for individuals from the Royal Signals or Engineers who have done, or are in the process of doing, a resettlement geared towards a career in telecommunications. Any prior knowledge of Fibre Optic, Copper or Radio communications infrastructure is highly desirable.

* Advanced Level Apprenticeship in IT and Telecoms Professionals

* BTEC L3 in ICT Systems and Principles for Apprentices (Level 3)

* BTEC L3 Diploma in professional competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals (QCF)

* City & Guilds - Fibre Optic Cabling in an internal environment

* City & Guilds - Fibre Optic Cabling in an external environment

* City & Guilds - Basic Principles of Communications Cabling

* City & Guilds - Level 2 Copper Cabling in an Internal Environment

* City & Guilds - Basic Principles of Communications Systems

* City & Guilds - Basic Engineering Competences (Electrical Engineering)

* City & Guilds - Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Building & Structures Level 2)

* City & Guilds - NRSWA

Skills and Experience:

* A keen interest in working as a Telecommunications Engineer

* Knowledge of communications infrastructure

* An understanding of Fibre splicing will be beneficial

* Able to undertake manual work and working at heights

* A full UK driving license

Role and Responsibilities:

* Provide first-class maintenance, repairs and provisions for telecoms infrastructure in Scotland and North East England

* Undertake underground and overhead cabling and splicing of the fibre network

* Work in a field based capacity to complete jobs as per the schedule

* Deal with customers face to face, maintaining levels of professionalism and customer service

* Predominantly work Monday to Friday, however there is the opportunity to earn overtime by working some out of hours and weekends
