About the role
The Hydrotreated Easter and Fatty Acids (HEFA) - Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project portfolio is a critical element to enable bp's strategic aims of leading decarbonisation of the aviation fuels sector and growing our global SAF market share. The aim of this project is to convert the existing refining facilities for SAF production.
The project is currently in its early development stage. The project team is looking for a process design manager to lead the technical and engineering elements of the project.
Job Advert
Key AccountabilitiesLead development of the technical and process engineering scope during the Concept Development and Optimise stages of projects
Support the evaluation and selection of safe, competitive, and robust concept and enable development of a preliminary FEED package
Provide technical feedback to business framing, option screening and concept selection reviews.
Identify and lead option development, engineering studies, technology selection and baseline assessments of brownfield scope
Lead preparation of core project deliverables, including scopes of work, terms of reference, technical notes and decision papers.
Verify and consolidate technical inputs and assumptions from site and other partners, incorporate turnaround and operations requirements,
Enable timely and effective engagement of other subject areas and experts external to the project team
Provide recommendations to concept development plan, engineering execution plan and project execution plan
Provide process engineering and design inputs to key project work and participate in design, safety and project evaluations and workshops
Identify and interpret technical practices, technical practices and relevant codes and standards for projects with support of Domain Experts
Manage process engineering activities and provide review and assurance of process engineering and design work
Provide process engineering support and oversight during development of the FEED package and detailed engineering
Build enduring process design engineering capability and competence through active mentoring, coaching and training of other process design engineers
Job RequirementsBachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Experience working as a process design engineer on projects across all project stages with a detailed understanding of front end development
Experience working as a process engineer in design or operational roles in the oil, gas or chemicals industry
Strong influencing and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of teams across multiple locations
Capability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
Desirable criteriaExperience with hydrocracking, hydrogen production and purification technologies, or design/operational experience with fats, oils and greases feedstock pretreatment processes, preferably for renewable hydrotreating units
Qualified as a chartered, registered or professional engineer
Experience as a lead process design engineer on a large or complex project including a demonstrated ability to integrate engineering services
Capability to integrate project scope with existing facilities and the identification of commonalities and interdependencies between systems
General knowledge of overall refining processes and typical flow schemes
Deep technical background including process simulation and other engineering software applications and engineering technical practices and industry codes and standards
